MARBLE WORKTOPS
FOR ESSEX, SUFFOLK, CAMBRIDGESHIRE, NORFOLK & LONDON

When it comes to polish, sheen and appearance, it is hard to find a rival to marble.
Marble is a non-foliated metamorphic rock that forms when limestone or dolomite is subject to heat and pressure (metamorphism). It is composed primarily of the mineral calcite and unlike granite or quartzite it is less hardwearing and more porous. Each marble slab is unique and full of personality. Marble kitchen worktops can be enjoyed for many years if sealed regularly. Marble is a graceful material that ages well if looked after and well-maintained.

Uniquely distinct, this rugged "elegant" natural stone has few vulnerabilities barring the porous character that makes it vulnerable to acids. Unlike granite worktops or quartz worktops which are composed of durable stone that can withstand scratches and stains, marble is formed by using mineral calcite which leaves the surface beautiful yet prone to damage if not sealed regularly.

S T Stone Works Ltd offers an amazing collection of marble options surveying every colour and pattern imaginable to best fit your personality. Our kitchen and bathroom worktop specialists can help you choose the right marble look while our highly skilled team will take pride in the highest quality installation.

HOW TO CARE FOR MARBLE WORKTOPS

While marble is a gorgeous and durable material, some extra care can help to preserve the beauty and functionality of your surface. Compared to granite, marble is softer and more porous, meaning you may see more scratches, cracks, stains, and dulling if it is not cleaned and maintained properly. To help your marble surface look great, be mindful of the following:
  • Daily care of your marble worktop is essential. Be sure to wipe up any spills immediately as acidic foods and can quickly damage the marble. If you are using your marble worktop for food preparation, consider laying down a protective sheet or working on a large cutting board. Use placemats, coasters, and trivets under hot or cold plates, glasses, cups, or pots and pans.
  • Dust your marble worktop at least once a week using a soft microfiber cloth. Clean your worktop regularly with a damp cloth and a cleaner designed for stone and marble. Avoid cleaning products that include acidic ingredients or are abrasive.
  • Seal your marble worktops regularly. Sealing can help to prevent stains and other damage. When water fails to bead up on your marble worktop, that is a sure sign that it needs to be sealed again.
  • Polish can brighten your marble worktop surface and can lessen the appearance of scratches or etched rings. Stone polish can revitalise a tired worktop and help to keep it in great condition.
